THE SHORT VERSION

Diamond Dex is a free, non-profit fan project. There are no ads, no trackers from advertising companies and no email addresses. You can play the whole game without an account.

ON YOUR DEVICE

Your saves, settings and records are kept in your own browser (local storage). They never leave your device unless you create an account and use cloud saves, or you export the save file yourself. Clearing your browser data deletes them.

IF YOU CREATE AN ACCOUNT

We store: your username, a scrambled (hashed) version of your password, a scrambled version of your recovery code, your best scores for the leaderboards (visible to everyone, next to your username) and, if you use them, your cloud save. We do not ask for or store an email address, your real name or your location.

To keep you signed in we set one cookie, valid for 30 days, which is only used to recognize you on this site. To limit abuse we briefly keep counters tied to your network address (they expire within an hour).

Delete everything: open Account in the top right, then Delete my account and enter your password. Your account, leaderboard scores, daily results and cloud save are removed. If you lose both your password and your recovery code, send a message to the developer on Discord (use the Feedback window in the game) and I will help.

ANALYTICS AND OUTSIDE SERVICES

Visits are counted with Vercel Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not follow you from site to site. The site is hosted on Vercel, and the account data is stored in an Upstash Redis database.

Anonymous usage counts: so the developer can see roughly how many people play and come back, the game keeps a random id in your browser and sends it, the day you first visited and the names of events such as "game finished". For the timing bars it also counts, for a random one in four swings or throws, whether it landed gold, green, yellow or missed, so the developer can tune them fairly. It never includes your username, anything you typed, or your location, and no cookies are used. Turn it off in Settings (or with your browser's Do Not Track setting). Clearing your browser data starts you over as a new anonymous visitor.

Pokémon pictures load from public image hosts (GitHub and jsDelivr, and play.pokemonshowdown.com for trainer pictures). Like any image on the web, loading them shows those hosts your network address and browser type.

Diamond Dex is heavily inspired by ALL22POKEMON. Pokémon and its names and sprites belong to their owners.
